The new UI is out, and here's what it means to you.

The game is changing, from a "where do I spawn" game, to a "who do I spawn with and play with" game.

The reason is retail release, and if you want to know why I'll tell you.

The most unsuccessful part of this game has been the "where do I spawn, what do I do" theme that our UI was based on. From magazine reviews from day 1 to present, to tens of thousands of lost potential customers this has been made clear.

The most successful part of our game has been squads. From HC affiliate squads, 31'st wrecking crew, BKB, SG, etc. all the way to Deadlocks channel 99, squads or groups have been the most successful and fun part of this game.

If I can get a magazine reviewer into a squad on hos first log in, we get a RAVE review. If they just log in alone as any other noob, we get a suck review. This isn't rocket science here.

Our UI not only didn't help that most successful part of the game, it hid it away and these hard working groups had to work around our game UI to try to make things work and were successful in spite of the UI.

We are changing the game so that the style of play DEFAULT is to back up the group play of folks like BKB, 31'st, channel 99 etc. and make that the DEFAULT way to play. You join the group and from now on you log in and your at your group looking at your groups missions instantly.

The games default play is going to squad based play, instead of lonewolf based, as that's where our best success has been.

We have to limit the number of squads (there are over 1000) to do this so we can add squad based features, so we call them brigades.

I expect the larger squads to fill their own brigade. Smaller squads to band together into brigades, but think of the brigades as big squads. Think of small squads as platoons inside a brigade or larger squad.

In the future each squad/brigade will have it's own supply, it's own recruiting slogan on the brigade selection screen, it's own insignia, it's own stats and scoring, and elect it's own leaders to move up in the HC chain to coordinate with other brigades and military branches on their behalf.

The leaders of each mission will get more tools soon to place waypoints and orders on the in game map for their mission members, see their mission members on that map, get enemy contact reports on that map etc. so they don't have to spam caps on chat etc. and can actually coordinate the mission.

I know some of you guys are frustrated, the guys who care nothing for group play and have their fun hopping all over hot spots on the map all day chasing EWS and HC alerts. The UI is not made for that anymore, for good reason, though we HAVE still allowed you to play like that with a little more work. I have fun playing that way too, I know what your feeling.

We have one good shot here with a retail release though, and we have to fix the game and make it a more successful launch. Moving to squads/groups/brigades as the default play mode is the ticket.

The success of large squads, HC squads, groups like channel 99 has shown us this is THE way to go, and though some of those groups have given us fits, the obvious long term success of those groups is undenyable and is obviously the direction we must take to be a better success in the retail market, and a more fun game.

The features we have planned for the future is to add to this by giving these squads/brigades features tailored for their groups, that just aren't possible in game tailored for lone wolf play.

We like you lone wolves, I am one myself, but the game cannot be default to lonewolf play as it has been, with groups having to work around that and be successful. It has to go to default group play, every success and failure we've had over the years makes this obvious.

I hope most of you can ask yourself when you log in, "who do I want to spawn with" instead of "where do I want to spawn" and make the transition.

Most current players can post missions, in the new UI you can go anywhere you want from any brigade and post a mission anywhere on the map and spawn there, just like in 1.18. That will probably change in time, it's not set in stone but it is our current path.

For now lone wolfing just takes a little more effort, and playing as a squad takes a lot less effort, as it should be. Squad play will become more and more a part of the games features as brigades become the squads and squads become brigades.

Technical issues with chat size etc. will be sorted out soon and just a memory. Gameplay will change though, and I hope all fo you can understand why, and give the new style a chance.

Try to find a group of folks you like to play with at your regular play time, and try sticking with them a few days and attrecting more guys to your group.

Join that brigade and think of it as your squad, and recruit enough guys to make sure your brigade ALWAYS has action. That's the winning way.

That is all I ask.

2. missionen up --> aktivitäten der Brigade.
